Paul, you make a gross stereotype. I think many “Blue Dog” Democrats are not hostile to values of the gospel. Let’s not forget that James E Faust was a Democrat, and I think Jim Matheson represents Utah’s gospel values quite well. Sean Hannity used to interview a Democrat from Georgia who seemed very in line with gospel values.

These days I think you’ll have a problem finding members willing to defend the practice of polygamy back then. The Democrats have become a party that is hostile to the values of the gospel as a matter of policy, so it is no mystery to me that most Mormons are Republican.

A friend sent me this link. Apparently Brigham Young referenced "Black-hearted Republicans." How is it that the university named after him is a bastion of Republicanism? I think Brigham Young would roll over in his grave to see so many church members embrace "the dark side."

One wonders if having more Mormons become Democrats would have a similar impact on that party in Utah today?
